fried rice

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cooked white rice, cold
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and carrot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the peas and cook for 2 minutes more.
  4. Push the vegetables to the side of the pan and add the eggs. Scramble the eggs until cooked through.
  5. Return the vegetables to the pan and stir in the rice.
  6. Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
  7. Cook, stirring constantly, until the rice is heated through and all the ingredients are combined, about 2 minutes.
  8. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • For the best fried rice, use cold, cooked rice. This will help the rice to stay separate and not become mushy.
  • If you don't have any leftover rice, you can cook some white rice according to the package directions. Once the rice is cooked, let it cool completely before using it in the fried rice.
  • You can add any vegetables you like to your fried rice. Some other popular options include broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers, and corn.
  • If you want to make your fried rice more flavorful, you can add some other ingredients, such as chopped garlic, ginger, or scallions.
  • For a vegetarian fried rice, simply omit the eggs.

Enjoy!
