Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the oats and chocolate chips.
  4. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips:

  • Use old-fashioned rolled oats for the best texture.
  • Don't overmix the dough, or your cookies will be tough.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking, this will help the cookies hold their shape.
  • Bake the cookies until they are just golden brown, or they will be dry.
  • Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack before storing them in an airtight container.

Enjoy!
