Delicious and Easy Samosas



Samosas are a delicious and popular snack food that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are made with a savory filling of potatoes, onions, and spices, and are then fried until golden brown. Samosas can be eaten plain or with chutneys or sauces.

This recipe is for making samosas at home. It is easy to follow and produces samosas that are crispy and flavorful.

Ingredients:

  • For the dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon carom seeds
    • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • For the filling:
    • 2 potatoes, boiled and mashed
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 1 green chili, chopped
    • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
    • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
    • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. To make the dough, combine the flour, salt, and carom seeds in a bowl.
  2. Add the oil and rub it into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. Add water, a little at a time, and knead until the dough comes together.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Making the filling:

  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and cook until softened.
  3. Add the green chili and ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  4. Add the coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt and cook for a minute more.
  5. Add the mashed potatoes and mix well.
  6. Let the filling cool completely.

Assembling the samosas:

  1. Once the dough has rested, divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  2. Roll out each piece of dough into a 6-inch circle.
  3. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle.
  4. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges.

Frying the samosas:

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Fry the samosas in batches until golden brown.
  3. Serve hot with chutneys or sauces.
